I created DBK as an affordable solution for small business owners looking to make a statement in the social media world.
People are visual creatures. We will go for the more expensive, possibly lower quality product simply because it’s prettier. Yup. It’s true. Think about it for a minute. How many of us buy vehicles that are less fuel-efficient and/or economically inferior to a different automobile in it’s class simply because of a sleeker design that’s more aesthetically pleasing?
However, mall business owners rarely have the financial ability to hire your every day designer. Designers are costly, many times charging up to $20 or more per hour for their work.
These small businesses end up spending precious time on branding and visual presence instead of on the product they love.
You didn’t open a small businesses to spend hours creating images. If you did, you’d probably be opening the same small business I did – a design studio. Instead, you opened your doors so that you could get paid for doing what you love.
This is where I come in, coincidentally. I used to own a resale shop. That shop is where I discovered my love for design. I was shocked when I contacted a designer about image branding and she told me the prices. My business still hadn’t even made enough profit to shake a stick at and I could find no way to justify spending $80 dollars to just design some images. I knew how to design, I had skill in it, and I’d do it myself.
Unfortunately, I was way over my head. I could design quality images, but I had no idea about so many tips and little secrets that had made other around me pop.
I learned swiftly though. While many businesses have someone handy with Photoshop, having a designer at your fingertips is a priceless tool, a secret weapon. Having worked in the field for many months, I now know that there’s a lot more to branding and image presence than just finding a pretty picture for a timeline cover and adding text.
I bring to the table even more than a designer though. I have a fierce loyalty to small business, and a genuine desire to help. I offer frequent freebies and giveaways.

Tell me what you think you need and we can go from there. If you already know, fantastic. As your new designer, I will create multiple rough drafts until your satisfied. (I’ve been known to work tirelessly for days on an image for a lady who was only able to afford a few dollars. Quality NEVER decreases with price.)
